Tips to relax before an audition

I remember when I audition for a lead role in a off Broadway show and they wanted to cast me as a social worker. This was my first audition for Broadway and I was scared to death. I blew that audition because I kept fumbling over the lines and I was so damn scared.

After I left that audition I had to ask myself a question and the question was "why". Why was I scared, why did I fumble over my lines and why didn't I be myself? I couldn't answer those questions and I had to swallow the fact that the show from what I hear turned out to be a success. However I wanted to kick myself because I blew a big opportunity. Who knows where I've could have been now. So I lived and I learned and that was a learning experience for me.

So my tips for relaxing before any audition are very simple. What I do before anything is to be myself, get a good night rest, don't forget my lines or scenes and be prepared for anything. You also have to study and do a good research on your character. You cannot allow yourself to be stressed out before any audition so just be you because your fear sometimes shows through.
