How to impress a casting director
Carry with you your marketing materials. At least two. Resume, Headshot, Compcard, Reel.
Always be on time! This is very important! Arrive at least twenty minutes earlier.
Dress like the character. For example if you are going for a lawyer's role, dress like a lawyer. If you don't know what a lawyer wears, search it online!
Always do your homework before your audition.
Explain to them why you're good for the part, if asked.
Only ask smart questions about the acting role or don't ask any questions.
Be professional.
Don't stop in the middle of a reading if you made a mistake, unless the casting director tells you to. Just keep going!
If a casting director directs you, take that direction and show them that you can work with them, listen and improvise if needed. It is very important for them to see that you are an easy going person and there will be no problems working with you.
Be real. Give them as much of you as you possibly can in an acting audition because its easier to tone down your performance if asked.
